CPUOff Lite Version 1.2 Released

Wednesday, February 28th, 2007

This minor update to CPUOff Lite updates the program colour scheme to be like CPUOff. Program now switches to run on top in shutdown mode. The log file now shows the date created for new log files. It also fixes a bug where the program could freeze under some error conditions when getting the CPU load.

CPUOff Lite monitors the average CPU load and initiates computer power off after the average CPU load has been below a preset threshold for more than 60 seconds. The program activates 2 seconds after starting and shuts down 30 seconds after shutdown is initiated unless shutdown is cancelled. It can be initiated either manually or automatically via the Windows Task Scheduler. CPUOff Lite is part of the JSutils group of software utilities which have a theme of energy conservation. Uses of CPUOff Lite include unattended backup (or other processor intensive operations), shutting down the computer when the backup has completed. It can be started via the Windows Task Scheduler at the same time as the backup is initiated. It can also be started manually to allow the computer to power off automatically once a task has completed. This is a great little utility for saving energy by making sure a computer switches off when it has finished a task.

CPUOff & CPUOff Lite Checked Out On Vista

Tuesday, February 27th, 2007

Successful testing of CPUOff and CPUOff Lite has been carried out on Windows Vista Ultimate. CPUOff Lite worked without any problems apart from one icon in the start menu was blank (this will be corrected in a future release). CPUOff initially gave run time error 339 - this was cured by opening the property tab of the CPUoff executable and changing it to ‘run as admin’ on the compatibility tab.

Have you ever wondered what your water bill is likely to be before you get it? Is your water bill correct? Or may be you want to help the environment by reducing water consumption, monitoring your water use can contribute to this. If the answer to any of these is yes then maybe EnCalcLU can help you. To find more energy saving ideas click on Energy Saving.

EnCalcLU calculates the cost of water use, allowing both the real cost based on meter readings and forward prediction based on the readings and elapsed time to be calculated. The results can be saved to a log file for later analysis. The program can cope with both water and sewage volume charges, varying tax rates plus fixed charges enabling most charging models to be handled. EnCalcLU is part of the JSutils group of software utilities which have a theme of energy conservation.

EnCalcLU is the companion to EnCalcEU and is designed to solve the problem of calculating and predicting your water bill based on meter readings. It is designed to be easy to use. EnCalcEU Version 2 Released

Thursday, February 1st, 2007

Have you ever wondered what your electricity bill is likely to be before you get it? Would you like to work out for yourself whether it is really worth changing electricity supplier? Is your electricity bill correct? Or may be you want to help the environment by reducing energy consumption, monitoring your electricity use can contribute to this. If the answer to any of these is yes then maybe EnCalcEU can help you.

EnCalcEU calculates the cost of electricity, allowing both the real cost based on meter readings and forward prediction based on the readings and elapsed time. The results can be saved to a log file for later analysis. The program can cope with different charging rates for electricity at different times of the day, alternative rates based on a preset threshold, varying tax rates plus fixed charges enabling most charging models to be handled. EnCalcEU is part of the JSutils group of software utilities which have a theme of energy conservation.

EnCalcEU has been around for about 4 months and is designed to solve the problem of calculating and predicting your electricity bill based on meter readings. It is designed to be easy to use. EnCalcEU supports Windows 2000, Windows XP and Windows 2003 and is simple to install. Just download the install file, double click on it, follow the on screen instructions, enter the free registration code and off you go. It provides a simple way to keep an eye on electricity use without having to resort to complex calculations due to differing charge rates.
Version 2.0 introduces a history log to enable the program to keep a running record of previous meter readings and dates. Added recall last readings button (from new history log). Tided up and simplified help. Icons updated. Removed Uninstall link and Release Notes link from start menu. Error checking of log files improved. Now displays Tax instead of VAT if the currency is not set to pound or euro. Fixed a bug where the About form opened beneath the main window if the program was set to run on top. Log files now use the system short date format rather than a fixed format. Minor layout changes to the log file. Minor cosmetic improvements to the layout. Fixed a bug where changing the currency or date formats in Regional Settings while the program was running caused the program to give out of range errors when Calculate was clicked.  In addition a few minor bugs have been fixed as a result of user feedback.
