About SoftwareMiser
SoftwareMiser is here to promote environmentally friendly energy use by using software to save computer energy use and calculate energy consumption and reduction.
The software started to appear in 2004 in the form of CPUOff (used to shutdown two computers automatically after overnight backups had finished) and grew gradually over time to the current JSutils format. The software is part of a much larger project started in 2004 to reduce home energy use which continues to this day.
Over the years the software has grown to include calculators covering oil, water, electrcity and gas. The shutdown utilities now include utilities for process detection, keyboard and mouse activity, processor load detection, time delays and network activity detection.
The objective is to keep the software free for non commercial use, ideas for enhancements are always welcome.
