JSutils News 0909 Sep

Welcome to the world of computer energy saving and energy calculation software from JSutils.

As explained last month one of our priorities is to digitally sign all our programs to stop the scary ‘Unknown Publisher’ pop up on installation. All programs released from now on will have both the installer and main executable digitally signed using a fully traceable certificate from Comodo. If you access the properties of the installer and executable you will see an extra tab called  Digital Signatures where you can find more details about the certificate

New Programs & Program Updates Coming Soon

EnCalcL Version 3.3 - Coming September 2009
The update to this water use calculator digitally signs the installer and executable, adds a time stamp to each calculation in the results file and includes a number of more minor updates. EnCalcL calculates the cost of purchasing and running water using appliances, allowing two alternative items to be compared under the same conditions or the true cost of one item to be worked out simply. The results can be saved to a log file for later analysis. Variables such as water use, number of uses per day and investment cost can be independently varied for 2 items for specified payback times and water cost to work out the true total cost of items.

EnCalcLU  Version 2.2 - Coming September 2009
The update to this water bill calculator and predictor digitally signs the installer and executable, adds a results archiving facility and includes a number of more minor updates. EnCalcLU calculates the cost of water use, allowing both the real cost based on meter readings and forward prediction based on the readings and elapsed time to be calculated. The results can be saved to a log file for later analysis. The program can cope with both water and sewage volume charges, varying tax rates plus fixed charges enabling most charging models to be handled.

LANOff Version 4.3 - Coming September 2009
The update to this network monitoring and shutdown utility digitally signs the installer and executable, improves error checking, removes a spurious file and includes a number of more minor updates.  LANOff monitors up to four remote computers from a client computer and optionally shuts down the client and specified remote computers when the network fails or the specified computer shuts down. Various parameters can be set via the configuration screen.  LANOff supports all the normal shut down modes. The program operates by interrogating each remote computer via a small slave program once a second. Up to four remote computers can be monitored or controlled with shutdown being initiated when connection to all computers is lost. Uses of LANOff include monitoring up to four computers connected to a server shutting down the server when it is no longer needed or shutting down up to four computers connected to a server when the server shuts down. It can be started via the Windows Task Scheduler, on start up or manually.

AllOff Version 3.3 - Coming October 2009
The update to this shutdown utility includes the addition of two way communications with the slave installation plus a number of other changes.  AllOff monitors the mouse, keyboard and CPU load and initiates computer shutdown if there has been no keyboard or mouse activity and the average CPU load has been below the threshold set for the specified time. AllOff supports all the normal shut down modes. It can also be used to control a remote computer. Uses of AllOff include unattended backup (shutting down the computer when the backup has completed) and shutting down a computer if the user forgets. It can be started at a fixed time, on start up or manually.

It is also likely at least one other program will be digitally signed  during the next few weeks.

Programs Released Over The Last Month Or So

EnCalcEU Version 4.2 Released 02-September-2009
Installer and executable now digitally signed. Includes results log archive feature plus a number of other changes. EnCalcEU calculates the cost of electricity, allowing both the real cost based on meter readings and forward prediction based on the readings and elapsed time. The results can be saved to a log file for later analysis. The program can cope with different charging rates for electricity at different times of the day, alternative rates based on fixed or daily thresholds, varying tax rates plus fixed charges and discounts enabling most charging models to be handled. It will also calculate the amount of CO2 generated. See history for details of the changes in this version.

EnCalcGU Version 2.0 Released 26-August-2009
Installer and executable now digitally signed. Ability to handle discounts added. Includes results log archive feature plus a number of other changes and bug fixes. EnCalcGU calculates the cost of gas, allowing both the real cost based on meter readings and forward prediction based on the readings and elapsed time. The results can be saved to a log file for later analysis. The program can cope with different charging rates for gas based on a preset threshold, different calorific values/correction factors, imperial and metric meters, varying tax rates plus fixed charges and discounts enabling most charging models to be handled. It will also calculate the amount of CO2 generated. See history for details of the changes in this version.

EnCalcOU Version 1.3 Released 18-August-2009
Installer and executable now digitally signed. Help updated. EnCalcOU calculates the cost of oil, allowing both the real cost based on tank readings and forward prediction based on the tank readings and elapsed time. The results can be saved to a log file for later analysis. The program can cope with different tank shapes, varying tax rates plus fixed charges enabling most charging models to be handled. See history for details of the changes in this version.

AllOff Version 3.2 Released 14-August-2009
