JSutils News 0910 Oct
Welcome to the world of computer energy saving and energy calculation software from JSutils.
As explained in previous months one of our priorities has been to digitally sign all our current programs to stop the scary ‘Unknown Publisher’ pop up on installation. With the release of an update to EnCalcE tomorrow we will have completed this task. All programs released from now on will have both the installer and main executable digitally signed using a fully traceable certificate from Comodo. If you access the properties of the installer and executable you will see an extra tab called Digital Signatures where you can find more details about the certificate.
We are now looking for further ideas to enhance our programs or for new programs related to energy saving - if you have a great idea then feel free to suggest it.
New Programs & Program Updates Coming Soon
EnCalcE Version 4.3 - Coming 7th October 2009
The update to this electricity use calculator digitally signs the installer and executable and updates help. EnCalcE calculates the cost of purchasing and running electrical appliances, allowing 2 alternative items to be compared under the same running conditions, this includes the difference in CO2 generation and allows for annual inflation. The results can be saved to a log file for later analysis.
EnCalcOU Version 1.4 - Coming October 2009
Includes results log archive feature plus a number of other changes and bug fixes. EnCalcOU calculates the cost of oil, allowing both the real cost based on tank readings and forward prediction based on the readings and elapsed time. The results can be saved to a log file for later analysis. The program can cope with different shaped tanks, work in volume or depth of oil, varying tax rates plus fixed charges enabling most charging models to be handled. It will also calculate the amount of CO2 generated and predict when the tanks next need filling.
AllOff Version 3.3 - Coming October 2009
The update to this shutdown utility includes the addition of two way communications with the slave installation plus a number of other changes. AllOff monitors the mouse, keyboard and CPU load and initiates computer shutdown if there has been no keyboard or mouse activity and the average CPU load has been below the threshold set for the specified time. AllOff supports all the normal shut down modes. It can also be used to control a remote computer. Uses of AllOff include unattended backup (shutting down the computer when the backup has completed) and shutting down a computer if the user forgets. It can be started at a fixed time, on start up or manually.
It is also likely another program will also be updated during October.
Programs Released Over The Last Month Or So
EnCalcL Version 3.3 - Released 09-September-2009
The update to this water use calculator digitally signs the installer and executable, adds a time stamp to each calculation in the results file and includes a number of more minor updates. EnCalcL calculates the cost of purchasing and running water using appliances, allowing two alternative items to be compared under the same conditions or the true cost of one item to be worked out simply. The results can be saved to a log file for later analysis. Variables such as water use, number of uses per day and investment cost can be independently varied for 2 items for specified payback times and water cost to work out the true total cost of items.
EnCalcLU Version 2.2 - Released 16-September-2009
The update to this water bill calculator and predictor digitally signs the installer and executable, adds a results archiving facility and includes a number of more minor updates. EnCalcLU calculates the cost of water use, allowing both the real cost based on meter readings and forward prediction based on the readings and elapsed time to be calculated. The results can be saved to a log file for later analysis. The program can cope with both water and sewage volume charges, varying tax rates plus fixed charges enabling most charging models to be handled.
LANOff Version 4.3 - Released 23-September-2009
The update to this network monitoring and shutdown utility digitally signs the installer and executable, improves error checking, removes a spurious file and includes a number of more minor updates. LANOff monitors up to four remote computers from a client computer and optionally shuts down the client and specified remote computers when the network fails or the specified computer shuts down. Various parameters can be set via the configuration screen. LANOff supports all the normal shut down modes. The program operates by interrogating each remote computer via a small slave program once a second. Up to four remote computers can be monitored or controlled with shutdown being initiated when connection to all computers is lost. Uses of LANOff include monitoring up to four computers connected to a server shutting down the server when it is no longer needed or shutting down up to four computers connected to a server when the server shuts down. It can be started via the Windows Task Scheduler, on start up or manually.
DownOff Version 2.4 - Released 30-September-2009
The update to this file transfer and download monitoring and shutdown utility digitally signs the installer and executable and updates help. DownOff monitors the average download rate and initiates computer shutdown if the download rate has been below a specified percentage for a preset time. It can also be used to shutdown a remote computer. DownOff supports all the normal shut down modes.
