AllOff Version 3.5 - Coming August 2010
This update to computer activity and shutdown utility adds the option of fixed time shutdown and the option to control whether shutdown is forced or not. AllOff monitors the mouse, keyboard and CPU load and initiates computer shutdown if there has been no keyboard or mouse activity and the average CPU load has been below the threshold set for the specified time. AllOff supports all the normal shut down modes. It can also be used to control a remote computer. Uses of AllOff include unattended backup (shutting down the computer when the backup has completed) and shutting down a computer if the user forgets. It can be started at a fixed time, on start up or manually.

EnCalcOU Version 1.6 - Coming August/September 2010
The update to this gas use and prediction calculator EnCalcOU is a tidy up exercise to fix a number of minor bugs and bring it into line with EnCalcEU & EnCalcGU. EnCalcOU calculates the cost of oil, allowing both the real cost based on tank readings and forward prediction based on the readings and elapsed time. The results can be saved to a log file for later analysis. The program can cope with different shaped tanks, work in volume or depth of oil, varying tax rates plus fixed charges enabling most charging models to be handled. It will also calculate the amount of CO2 generated and predict when the tanks next need filling.

Also planned during September/October are updates to EnCalcEU and EnCalcGU - more details next time.

Programs Released Over The Last Month Or So

EnCalcLU Version 3.0 - Released 10th August 2010
The update to this water use and prediction calculator EnCalcLU was originally planned as version 2.5 and was a tidy up exercise to fix a number of minor bugs and bring it into line with EnCalcEU & EnCalcGU. In the end we decided to reformat part of the display and the results log file to improve the information covered and allow discount 2 to be fixed and release the whole lot as version 3.0. EnCalcLU calculates the cost of water use, allowing both the real cost based on meter readings and forward prediction based on the readings and elapsed time to be calculated. The results can be saved to a log file for later analysis. The program can cope with both water and sewage volume charges, varying tax rates and discounts plus fixed charges enabling most charging models to be handled.

AllOffLite Version 2.6 - Released 26th July 2010
This minor update changes the support link url, fixes an icon problem and makes a few small changes to help. AllOff Lite monitors the mouse, keyboard and CPU load and initiates computer power off if there has been no keyboard or mouse activity for 900 seconds and the average CPU load has been below 15% for over 60 seconds. Uses of AllOff Lite include unattended backup (shutting down the computer when the backup has completed) and shutting down a computer if the user forgets. It can be started via the Windows Task Scheduler, on start up or manually. AllOff Lite is a great little utility for saving energy by making sure a computer shuts down when not needed.
